On the Saturday evening before Rosh Hashanah, many congregations invite their members to join in an hour of fellowship and inspiration in preparation for the Selichot Service which follows. These “Three Pre-Selichot Preludes,” based upon a larger work for Selichot, sets the inspired poetry of laureate poet Ruth F. Brin in a simple but dramatic manner. The poetry will lead to meaningful discussion. The music is scored for Cantor, amateur choir and keyboard accompaniment and is easily prepared. As well, the three pieces can be sung by solo voice with a guitar.

Excerpted from Hush of Midnight: An American S’lichot Service. Arranged by Robert A. M. Ross.
